  • 2001:  Land leveled; Excessive weed pressure; Irrigation well installed.

COMMENTS

2002-20012: No-till and limited tillage – planted flat – side inlet irrigation.

Fall 2008: used disk harrow to get rid of field ruts and levees.

Spring 2012: field cultivator, land plane, and pipe drag used to smooth levees and ruts.

Conservation Plan for the field is: (1) Crop Rotation (2) Water Conservation

Conservation  Demonstrated:  (1) Water usage on no-till rice vs. conventional rice

(2) Use of side inlet irrigation

Between fields 4 & 6 – the drainage ditch has aquatic vegetation growing to trap sediment.  ARS has monitors along the ditch to check amount of sediment trapped.
